Holy crap I had no idea the bites caused anywhere near that much tissue damage. That was amazing. Most have been really hard for the kid; credit to him for zero whining about it on his web site.

This looks like it would have caused an amputation if the kid had lived 80 years ago, or even just before the days of helicopter transport. Probably today too; the kid got horribly unlucky and then extremely lucky once the nasty actually happened.

The necrotizing tissue would have killed him 80 years ago as it would have eventually spread up further into his shoulder and into his chest. Probably would have killed him by causing heart failure before it began to destroy his upper body.
