Respect to "The Stunning One", Bill Edler!

The most amazing "chip and a chair" comeback since Jack Strauss!

Yea, Bill Edler is one sick bastard. Once Capt tom was done, it was clear Edler had the skill to win. In the late stages of the tourny I personally saw Robbin open fold 9-9 from the cutoff, open fold 5-5 from the button and heard from a reliable source that he folded J-J to a small reraise in position. WTF. Edler is a great player, and im stoked to see him win.

I went out Tuesday and tried to satelitte my way into the main event. Played in three single table 1040s on Tuesday. 5th, 2nd, 3rd.

KQ > AT in the blinds in the first one
In the second one, we got down to the two of us. Villian was really aggressive. He had about 60/40 when heads up began. He did not want to talk chop. Fine. I win a couple hands and it's pretty much dead even (I actually had a small chip lead at one time). He would talk then. I told him to give me $5K for the seat. He said you give me $5K. I said YES. I had a little less than that on me but enough to pay him in my room. He said play on even after I showed him 40 bills and told the ****** to just walk to my room with me. A couple hands later I flop a belly buster straight flush draw with KdQd on Jd 9d rag board. We get it all in. He has AJo. I don't hit. GG.
The third satelitte I was low man when three handed. They chopped right after I busted.

Then Wednesday I played in two of the three megas. DONKAMENTS. In the 1060, AQ with no draw > QQ on 972 board for two thirds of my stack (5500 of 8000 after starting with 4000). Three hands later, KQs > AA for 2200 of my remaining 2500. Blinds were 25/50 in both hands!!!! How that guy got 110 BBs in with AQ on a completely missed board is beyond me but he did. He actually called my AI too after bluff CRing me.

I played like [censored] in the 540 satelitte that afternoon but still went sorta deep and couldn't win a race when I needed to...

Didn't make the field, got drunk, blew $2000 playing BJ Thursday, meandered around the tournament room some, went home disappointed... oh well

Overall, though, everything was run great. Always enjoy my trips to the Beau which is by far the best casino in Mississippi and Johnny and staff did a terrific job.

(oh and I know I probably should post my whining in BBV )

Just got back from the Beau. Great event. No secret I think Grooms and co. are the best.

Donked off my chips in the main. Lost at Dice. Had my "older woman" fantasy bashed when I saw the redhead with another man.

Still loved the event.

Wow what a blast that was. I now remember how hard it was being on the road all the time. Just a reminder of how much I appreciate all of you who came to the event. We had good numbers, averaging around 620 or so for our preliminaries, and had 264 in the ladies event, as well as 256 in the WPT event. Our second chance had 350+ for about 5 days in a row, and at times we had 40+ side games running on the property.

As those of you know who came to the event, the property truly is a first class operation. I would again like to thank every member of my floor staff, dealer coordinators, and dealers for all their hard work and professionalism. Special thank to the on poperty poker staff for a job well done too. Also, for all employees who went to extra lengths to ensure the success of the event under some very hard circumstances, your efforts were appreciated by everyone. You guys truly made this one of my favorite events I have ever been a part of. Kudos to the media too. The coverage of Gulf Coast reconstruction and the importance of this event to the area were especially appreciated by members of the staff here who lost so much. To hear you write about the efforts to rebuild, and the splendor of the property made us all very happy to work here. Thanks again.

We will do this one again, and maybe add another. Tournaments here are a can't miss proposition. We look forward to having you all here again in the future.

I am going to rest for a few days.

Johnny Grooms
