Easy call on the river vs a thinking opponent - he's betting any flop you should've missed (which you did), then you just call so he puts you on maybe some pair < Q, so now another scare card hits on the turn and he can bet again, then another hits on the river so he has to bet again.
I'd expect to be good on the river more than often enough to call this instantly. Kirk
