Default Laptop Problem - Alienware I think its overheating

I currently play a lot of poker on my alienware laptop. the main problem is about 2 hours into a session with 4 tables open at a time (poker ace and pokertracker running smoothly) my computer will just shut down.

i was wondering if anyone had any advice for this. i think it is due to heating problems as it only happens during the summer and quickly on hot days. i was wondering if i could find a way to drop the temp. on this computer maybe through a 3rd party fan or something of that nature

thanks

Is the computer kept on a hard surface while turned on? Using a computer while it's on your lap/bed/chair/carpet/any soft surface can block airflow.

You can also put some 1-inch blocks (or smaller) on the 4 corners of the laptop to lift it up and allow for more airflow. I think some people have also had success with laptop pads.

Have you ever cleaned the inside of your laptop with compressed air?
