Default Xbox 360 controller for Windows

Does it have to be an actual "For windows" controller or are you able to plug in a wireless controller via the USB charge kit?

I can't get it to connect and I'm guessing it's because it has to be the "For Windows" controller.

I think only the wired 360 controllers can be used with your computer. Their might be some sort of adapter that will let you use wireless ones but I don't know.

I can't remember what it's called officialy, but you can either buy a special 'Wireless for Windows' 360 controller that includes a USB dongle or you can buy the dongle seperately. The play and charge kit is only for charging. Even when you have it hooked up to your 360 the controller is still communicating wirelessly with the Xbox.
