Default illness at college

Kind of an x-post from bbv4life but basically I'm wondering if it's just me that gets sick ridiculously way too much at college. I remember when I was younger (like, middle school-high school) I rarely ever got sick. Then last year, my freshman year, I was basically sick the entire year, and this year 3 weeks in I've already gotten sick twice, first one cold, and today fever/flu like symptoms.

And, what do you guys do to prevent from getting sick? When I'm out at a party or something I never really think of the "cup situation" like playing beer pong or other games, but now I feel like I'm going to be such a nit about stuff like that. Also, I live with FOUR other guys in ONE room. It's a huge ass room but this can't be healthy. I'm about to go on a cleaning rampage and just make our room spotless.

Your room is an extra sausage pizza. That can't be healthy.

Let's see. College consists of sharing drinks, random hookups, and living within 1mile of 40000 other students that are doing the same thing. It's standard.

If anyone doesn't get sick at least once a semester I'm shocked. I do all the above (wash hands, eat right, drink a lot of water, etc.), but I don't think you can prevent illness on campus of 40K+.

It just sounds like a case of having a lot of people crammed together in a limited space, sharing germs. As others have already said, wash your hands fairly often and cover up when you sneeze, but there's no way to avoid it entirely.

also since u didnt get sick much as a kid, your more likely to have a good but not extremly robust immune system that just hasnt been tested a bunch. Funny enough my freshman year i was fine pretty much the entire year but spent a very large chunk of 1st semester sophomore year very sick
