So my question is (assuming you have tried/owned/own both an iNano and an iPod) do you find the quality of the songs much better on one over the other?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd think he probably purchased the songs off of iTune instead of ripping it like you did. Maybe you should rip the songs into higher quality? (forgot the #). I actually think this will be a decent thread in OOT because there'll be more people that can answer a Q like this (of course at the same time risking a chance of being called a googletard and *). I've listened to both but with different headphones so I just assume they'd be the same given the same headphones.

I usually rip using Exact Audio Copy and backend it into the LAME .mp3 encoder at about a 192 variable bit rate. On my desktop computer music system (second best Creative Soundworks audio card now driving a near top rated Klipsh 2.1 speakers) I've compared a few songs I've ripped side by side versus the downloaded iTunes version. My rip/encodes are better and it's not close. I'm considering more iTunes purchases now that they are offering $1.29 downloads encoded at about a 224 bit rate in AAC unprotected format.

I'm also fooling around with Apple Lossless encoding right now. I really think the idea of a digitized CD collection on a living room stereo with iTunes/iPod convenience would be great and simply has to be doable. I only have about 200 CDs but my brother has about twenty times that many. I'll be dead before I listen to it all.

I really think different headphones would make a huge difference, more than the typical rip/encode.

Around 1993 I'm playing some mid limit game at the Commerce. It's very late at night and a real friendly/good game which is the best reason to play late. Suddenly between hands (in those days the dealer actually had to shuffle so there was a lot more time) someone points to an infomercial on the scary dangerously heavy overhead TVs for The Flowbee Haircutting System and described how funny this thing was when it was spoofed in the movie "Wayne's World".

Now another guy speaks up and says, "You know this thing actually works well if you have the right kind of hair and wear it in sort of Robert Redford look." So he goes on to sort of describe what it does.

I listen intently because I hate going to barbers and hairstylists. Barbers always want to cut my hair too short around the ears and in back and this just makes my skinny neck and big ears look a lot worse. My earlobes are long like LBJs (a former US President, you can Google the image); I really fear they will hit my shoulders in ten years or so. Meanwhile hairstylists never seemed to listen to the fact that I want a consistent haircut; I usually got the impression they would do the style they really wanted on their boyfriend on me. But their boyfriend didn't have a skinny neck and big ears.

My hair is sort of shaped and styled like a worse looking version of Robert Redford minus the hair on the forehead (I'm half Polish and have my Mom's hair). The more I listen to this guy the more I realize this thing might work for me. So I make my first and only late night infomercial purchase (about $100 back then).

That was about 400 haircuts ago although I eventually had to buy a replacement Flowbee for about $70. I've never had a complete haircut since (sometimes I'll go a stylist/barber for a $10 five minute trim in the very back).

Laugh if you want but at least check out this story which I just found tonight.

~ Rick

PS Andy Fox once said/wrote I have hair to die for (but then again he's bald).

For anybody who has trouble with blisters on their feet from sports, I highly recommend these socks that changed my life. They tend to go for about $8 a pair, but the price is well worth never having to worth about the soles of your feet looking like shredded cheese after a game.

Do you have any recommendation for knee brace or something for the knee? My knees are killing me.

And I should have said in my above post that the "anti-blister" socks are made by Wrightsocks.

Best recommendation is to go and see a doctor/knee specialist. Don't mess around with your wheels. People should be able to enjoy sports all throughout their lives. Don't be cheap with yourself when you have potential injuries.

I had that one for a while. The USB cord broke eventually. So I bought this one:

It's been great. Charges quickly, very functional.

lol I feel like so many of my recent posts are promoting Rainbows, but if you're gonna recommend Rainbows, don't show a picture of the cheaper, not as good ones. The premier leather ones last way longer and look much better than the plain leather ones you linked.

and yes, I second the suggestion of Rainbows. ~45 dollars, but will last you anywhere from 1-3 years (depending on how much you wear sandals - I wear them 6 days a week and they last me over a year), and are extremely comfortable and good looking.

I used to be a devout Teva guy, but I think Keen's have passed them in terms of comfort, durability and heel support. I've had a pair of these for over two years now with a ton of miles on them and they're still going strong. And I'm really hard on shoes.

Oh yeah - also if anyone likes to hike or run a lot but has problems with chafing - I got some lycra Speedo things that are like biker shorts but without the padded part. I wear them under my shorts and underwear. I don't know how I ever lived without them.
