Study Abroad Providers
I decided I want to go to Barcelona, Spain for abroad in the Spring, but I haven't decided which program I want to use.
I'm way ahead on credits and originally wanted to do CIEE, but no courses matched up and I would have 10 courses to take my senior year. I've talked to a few people about CIEE and they loved it. I'm now thinking about doing IES for courses, but I have only heard mixed reviews from peer evaluations in the abroad office at school. Anyone know anything about CIEE or IES? |

Re: Study Abroad Providers
Doesn't your school have a study aborad office? That might be a good place to start.

They do, I'm asking if anyone has experience with either. Abroad office said they are basically equal.

Re: Study Abroad Providers
Ask them if they can give you names of students who have used both and ask some of those students what they thought.

Re: Study Abroad Providers
Im on IES Sydney right now! I agree it is the sh!t. They provided a great orientation to get us accustomed settled in. They planned many fun events for the first few days which was a great opportunity to meet people and make friends. Then after orientation they pretty much leave you alone to do your own thing. We also have an awesome spring break trip planned that was included in the program fees.
The one gripe I have (could be entirely program dependent, not sure) is that they provided us with an almost useless meal plan. We get $20AUD...per WEEK! Also my IES contact back in the states seems to travel a lot so she can be hard to contact and slow, 4 to 5 days, to return emails. Other than that I have no complaints and would definately recommend them. |
