I can imagine durrr making 30x the cost of his first-class ticket on a transcontinental flight. This would be very, very BBV worthy.

Geez people, the cell phone thing is because THEY DONT WANT PEOPLE TALKING ON CELL PHONES. How is this not common knowledge? The interference thing is totally made up. It's so to prevent "air rage" and make it so you can hear the flight attendants.

I had read that it was so that they make $$$ by forcing people to use the in-plane phones.

Of course, who uses those anyway?

lufthansa is the only airline i have flown that offers internet. and i fly a lot internationally.

as for your london question, i have an office there and the other major airlines that service that market don't currently offer internet service.

Wouldn't it be fairly easy for a company such as JetBlue to incorporate something along these lines as they are already linked up with DirecTV and could simply link it up with them and provide satellite broadband? It would be a fairly large competitive advantage IMO and would likely force their competition to spend clumps of money to catch up.

I was on a LAN flight recently with some friends (a Boeing 737 I think). My friend told me his neighbour in economy class was using the internet during the flight.

Why? At least that way you only have to hear one end of retarded conversations.
