Default Big ante being added

I play in a 20/40 cash game every week. I'm already in over my head (I'm a beginner with rich friends, no I can't get you invited ). The other guys want to move the game to include a $20 ante raising the cost of playing form $60 to $240 a round. Obviously sitting back and waiting for AA isn't going to work so well (not that it was working great to begin with...). Any other advice on how to play such a game? Thx.

Wait, $20/$40 no-limit, and with a $20 ante now? What kind of stack sizes are common here?

Buy in before ante was $4,000, going to $$10,000 with ante. And I don't know what I'm doing. Bad combo I know...

I'm assuming this will mean lots of huge pots and preflop raising. In that environment, big cards are not to be trusted. KQ and AJ make one pair a lot, and you won't be comfortable putting your stack behind them.

So play lots of suited connectors, pairs, and suited aces, which make big hands that you can back your stack with.

Good luck, and post some hands!
