The art of the insult.
When people are insulting each other, are there boundaries that shouldn't be crossed?
Here's the situation that elicits the question. On another forum I'm hated by many, often flamed because of my views and inability to turn the other cheek. So this wheelchair bound crippled guy decides to join in on the fun. Here's the exchange that took place:
Illeagle's a keeper. As much fun as the Black Plague, broken ribs and chronic IBS. He's brought nothing but joy into my internet life. Dante wrote about your future Mr. Illeagle. Enjoy. [/ QUOTE ] To this I simply replied:
Am I as much fun as legs that don't work? [/ QUOTE ] So tell me, did I go too far? Should I have reigned myself in and not treated this disabled guy the same way I treat able-bodied people? Was it unfair of me to refer to his physical disability after he inferred I am spiritually and morally disabled? |

Eh, once a guy rips into you like that, it's no holds barred imo.
Very nice comeback btw. |

Re: The art of the insult.
Five stars.
I was just discussing this with my friend, and I have never considered handicaps to be excluded. My friend brought up dead relatives. Maybe. When we're friends / acquantainces, this comes into play much more. For randoms? Nope. |

Re: The art of the insult.
One thing I really hate is when people use their handicap as some sort of shield, as if they can be an ass to everyone around them and aren't entitled to anything in return because of their disability. This is bs to me. If someone takes a stab you are entitled to give it right back imo, now you don't have to twist the knife around and pour alcohol on the wound while your in there but you get the point.
