Re: ***August Low-Content Thread***
[ QUOTE ]
How often does this happen to you guys? My last three sessions are like identical triplets. I sit down and within two 3-tabling orbits I'm down one to one and a half buyins based on one donk hand and several sucker or quartering hands. I then continue to dwindle for anywhere from one to two more hours, ending down between one plus and almost three buyins, then in the last half hour I've just cured the monkeytilt, get dealt all the good cards that were missing for three hours, and end up getting anywhere from 2/3 to more than all of it back. Bottom line I'm down half a buyin for the three days... If I showed a graph of the bankroll for each session it would literally look like three fraternal stock indexes tracking oh so close to each other. With such high variance this seems beyond improbable. Just curious if this sounds at all familiar. [/ QUOTE ] Imo theres actually less variance in NLO8 or PLO8 than in other forms of poker since with the pot often being split or quartered, you're not going to get stacked as much. Of course theres still variance though, which is what you're going through. Hard to quantify how often it happens to me though. If you're sure you're still playing well then i wouldn't worry too much about it. |

Serious question ...
I took a look at my PT stats yesterday for the first time since PT started working with Omaha on Bodog. In 21,600 hands I'm up 9.95 BB/100. Is that considered good? Average? Fair? Sample size OK? Too small? |

FT Sweat PLO8
search for 'franknagaijr' on stars right now if you've got too much time on your hands.
Edit- Came in 3rd in a field of 439. Has anybody ever played with 'jaliks' before? His preflop selection and his postflop calling selection screamed donk, and yet he was the chip leader of the final two. |

Nit and Tight are not synonyms
As I recall, Felicia was kind enough to point out that the original meaning of 'NIT' in cardrooms was to characterize people who obsess over the the rules and infractions, and are likely to call for the floor every third hand.
I know there's no stopping the tide, but I think we've got plenty of words for 'tight', without co-opting this one. |
