Three men have been charged in the July beating death of a 27-year-old man at the Budget Suites near Desert Inn and Industrial roads, authorities said.

Las Vegas police were first called to the apartment and hotel complex at 1500 Echelon Resort Drive about 12:50 a.m. July 19 after the victim, Robert Amato of Las Vegas, called for medical help.

Amato was uncooperative with detectives when they arrived to find out what happened. He died later that day at a local hospital. The cause of death was blunt force trauma to his head, according to the Clark County Coroner's office.

Thanks so far guys, some good advice.

As to the http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_ho.../12878231.html

I plan to not be involved in "low - level drug distribution", so I think that lowers the chances of this happening to me?

I plan to be involed in high level drug distribution and I know karate...

The Budget Suites on Paradise is a pesthole and warzone. The one on Tropicana is pretty safe. A friend of mine is staying at the Holiday Royale on the corner of Harmon and Paradise and has reported no problems (it's gated), though the rooms themselves are pretty drab. He's paying between $700-$800/mo.

You want to know how safe LV is?
They give you crime statistics at the lvmpd website.
Just tried to pull it up but no luck.

It's pretty cool. Check out and see how many cars were stolen in a one mile radius from the bellagio.

So, in addition to the normal crime you also have to worry about the local cops handing out wood shampoos?

How much is your life worth? Every serial killer, pervert, and outlaw in the U.S. asks the same question---because they all head to Vegas. Vegas on the cheap can be dangerous.

You really believe this, or do you just want to be dramatic? Stats indicate that Vegas is safer than (for example) Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago. Take a look.

i'm sure it was a rare insident but i did stay at budget inns for 2 weeks and i got robbed on the way to the room. someone came from behind and knocked me half conscience, and i never saw it coming. a had $27 on me and he didn't bother to take my watch.
cheap places tend to attract the desperate and criminal minded people.

Try www.rent.com, you can get 3 month leases in Las Vegas in many apartment communities for less than 1k, and they are usually safe. You will need transportation, its not easy getting around here.
