seriously.. how can they discriminate? my job told me i can't grow a beard. i have to shave like every other day. WHAT THE [censored]!!! also i like to stroll in around 10:30 but they want me there at 9. how can they just discriminate?

[/ QUOTE ]

Legally, your employer actually is discriminating against you.

However, discrimination falls into two categories: justified discrimination and unjustified discrimination.

The types of discrimination that are considered unjustified are those which have been caused by the employee's status as a protected class. A protected class is a race, gender, nationality or religion.

Why not come out and say something about it? Of course it's a risk to do it, but it's also a risk not to say anything and the test comes back positive. Come out about it up front and you can play it as a "what the hell" situation. "Hey, I just wanted to let you know, I was recently in Amsterdam where it's legal to smoke pot, and I tried it. It's the only time I've ever done it, but I wanted you to know about it in case it comes back in the test."

Most employers won't care. I told the last place in the interview process that I've tried weed before. The recruiter said "We get that answer a lot, it's not a big deal as long as it's something you don't still do." It was never an issue after that.

But that test comes back positive and you haven't said anything? You're screwed.

If they didn't care they wouldn't be drug testing.

Just explain to them that you tried it in Amsterdam but you're like, totally clean now and you don't plan on doing it ever again. I'm sure they'll be fine with it.

They aren't just testing for THC.

Also, sometimes they don't care but it is required for insurance purposes.

I would also bet his bankroll. For Fs sake, do not bring up the subject unless you test positive.

There's at least one company that bans employees from smoking tobacco at all.

rofl. no. I remember one time I was applying for a job and they asked if I could take a drug test tomorrow. I figured I'd be honest so I said, "I have to admit that I smoked recently. I have no problem stopping for the job though and won't smoke at all while I'm employed. I'd be happy to take the test in a couple weeks."

They thanked me for my time and that was the end of that.

Get a masking agent from GNC like Q-Carbo.

But then again, I'm a pragmatist.

btw do not go in and say, "I need some stuff that will help me pass a drug test." They're obligated to not talk to you basically. Say, "I'm looking for a drink that will cleanse my body of toxins."

Yes I'm like the king of not knowing how to act when it comes to pot and jobs. That's what happens when you smoke and play poker for a living for a few years.

edit: wtf you smoked one time two months ago. No you don't need to care about this at all.
