Beat: My best friend just got sent to jail

My best friend was just sent to jail for 1 year. Out of respect to him, I'm not going to mention the charge. I'll just say it was a petty crime where nobody got hurt, nothing was stolen, and millions get away with it every day. The court system gave him the run-around for a whole year before sentencing him.

Needless to say, I'm depressed and have lost all faith in our legal system.

I have another friend whose step-sister was killed over a year ago. Recently someone confessed to the crime. Yet she still walks free. WTF.
