Re: DUIs
[ QUOTE ]
Anyway, my friend is hands down an A-1 guy. [/ QUOTE ] Apart from his recklessly endangering the lives of others, you mean? [ QUOTE ] Isn't selfish. [/ QUOTE ] What definition of selfish are you using if drunk driving doesn't qualify? [ QUOTE ] Just an all around good person [/ QUOTE ] who happens to have no regard for the lives of others. [ QUOTE ] He's not an alcoholic. [/ QUOTE ] He qualifies for a DSM-IV Alcohol Abuse diagnosis. [ QUOTE ] For 3rd offense, it says there is a mandatory 1 year jail term. [/ QUOTE ] Good. [ QUOTE ] On his first offense he lost his Drivers License for a year. 2nd offense, the cop didn't show up to DMV court, so he didn't lose his license, but he got 6 months house arrest. [/ QUOTE ] So, he didn't even get adequately punished for his previous crimes. We are supposed to feel sorry for him and advise you on how to prevent him from getting adequately punished for his continued criminal behavior? [ QUOTE ] I'm not defending what he did. [/ QUOTE ] You are certainly putting on a good impersonation of someone who is defending him. [ QUOTE ] However, he is an honest and good person [/ QUOTE ] Except of course for the part where he repeatedly puts the lives of others in danger. |

Re: DUIs
His first DUI was in NC, the last 2 were in WV.
Also in WV, I think you have 2 court cases. You have a DMV court for them to take your license, then you have the criminal case. Also to the poster that has the family issues: I'm not defending his actions, but I've witnessed hundreds or even thousands of people drink and drive and get away with it. Just go to a college/pro football game or a concert. Go to any bar. It's sad, but it happens every day. I'm just saying he's a good person and I can't really see him doing jail time (in my mind). |

Re: DUIs
I got one when I was 25. 8 months suspended license. It sucked, but the insurance surcharges were the worst part. I live in NJ (which is the highest auto insurance rates in the country), and you don't want to know what I pay in auto insurance.

Re: DUIs
He's 28, not 23. I've known him for probably 23 years. His tolerance for alcohol is way up there. It's not like his pissing on himself drunk and driving. The legal BAC limit in WV is .08. It doesn't take many drinks to blow that.

Re: DUIs
Best case scenario is that he gets the full year in prison, and actually learns something this time.
Idiot. |

Just because it's .08 and he has a "high tolerance" doesn't mean he is still good to drive. That is an awful excuse. Do you mind me asking what his BAC was the 3 times he got DUI's? Was it .081 all three times? Your friend needs to learn a lesson. Maybe he needs to go to jail, maybe he doesn't. But he needs to learn a lesson. Has he received any counseling? |

Re: DUIs
Here's a poll just asking who in this forum has drove while intoxicated. I'm not asking if you got caught. Have you done it?

His tolerance for alcohol is way up there. [/ QUOTE ] High tolerance + repeated DUIs. But he doesn't have an alcohol problem. |
