Default what club to drop?

Heres my current setup (15 clubs):

Nike SQ 9.5* driver
Nike t60 3wood, 5wood
MacGregor M675 forged irons (3-pw)
Titleist vokey 52*, 56*, 60*
Heavy Putter

My game: I hit the ball long, not always straight off the tee. I am a 10 handicap, but my sd is huge. I've shot 1 over par, and 18over in the same week.

I was leaning toward dropping the driver, as i can outdrive my friends with the 3wood but not sure if thats right. I was also thinking of a wedge, but i seem to use them all and am very comfortable with the lofts. Then i thought the 3, but that is a good club off the tee for me so... help

One option is to drop your 4 iron, and strengthen your 5 iron by a degree or so.

If you hit your 5 wood confidently, you might consider dropping you 3 wood.

It's no fun playing golf w/o a Driver

You have to keep the driver. My favorite thing in golf is smashing the big dog.

I would say your 5wood and 3 iron are similar in length and whichever one you like the best keep it and ditch the other.

3 iron or 5 wood. Keep the one you use off the tee the most to keep it in the fairway and get rid of the other one.

Drop the 3 iron. Hit the 5 wood off the tee instead unless you control the 3 iron better.

You have to make the decision you feel most comfortable with, so I thought I'd just give you a couple of other options.....

Drop the 60 degree wedge and improve your short game with the 56 by opening the face, you'll get more bounce anyway with that, and gives you greater margin for error. It's just a matter of being comfortable playing with the face open. Just be aware that you should open the face while keeping the shaft at the same angle as your normal setup.

Another option is to get a 4 hybrid, drop your 3/4 MacGregors. 4 Hybrids are about a 3.5 iron anyway(put a 3 iron length shaft in it). I think this is the best option for a 10 handicapper who is a long hitter. This gives you a nice high soft shot for your second into the 5's and long 3's, and you rarely would use a 3/4 iron into a par 4.

replace 52, 56, and 60 with 54 and 58. if you don't like your long irons i like the 3 or 4 hybrid replacement. (i didn't know anyone but tiger used a 5 wood anymore.)

If you don't want to change your set-up by adding clubs (going to a driver, 4-wood, 7-wood/hybrid), you should probably just drop your 3 iron anyway, you probably don't hit it very often anyway and honestly nobody really needs the 3 iron anymore.

If you have accuracy issues hit the 3 and 5 woods off the tee more when there is trouble and bomb the driver when there isn't.

What yardage gap is the 5 wood filling? I've never really understood why amateurs carry a 5 wood.

Edit: I'm an amateur too, but you know what I mean.
