are we thinking he won't think we're calling weak because we'll never call with a draw we'll always be shoving this flop?

or is this just a disgusting flop to float on because we never have anything when we call here?

On this flop I'm never just calling with JJ+ either..I shove.

So if I continue with this T9s, I would shove.

Hmm, in a vacuum I think shoving is far superior here, but I don't mind the float for balance. You just need to make sure this is sometimes an overpair and sometimes a set, as well.

so it sounds like we have to play quite a few hands sub-optimally for balance. what hands do you play this way to maximise value?

Well, once he calls the ambitious bluff shove on the river in this hand, sets and overpairs.

Mind you, I shove the turn, personally.

Given your preflop play you must push the flop.

I think a push is much much better than this. He may double barrell bluff and you've just thrown money away. He may hit his overcard. I can't see many advantages to be honest.

And I think you should push this flop once you've called preflop.

Balancing what? I just don't play any hand like this, and I don't see any need to.

Well, it wouldn't be usual for me to do this, but against certain opponents who 3-bet light and get aggro postflop I might call behind with a set on this board hoping he puts me on a draw and shoves a blank turn. I don't know, though, this board would kind of suck to play that way with a big hand, but generally speaking at least I like to have a lot of lines available to me in big pots, and I can imagine some people could work floating into their game pretty effectively here.
