My last relationship lasted 4 years and i don't think i ever talked to her on the phone for more than 1 hour at one time during the whole 4 years. I believe if i'm going to have a conversation with a girl for an extended period of time, that we should meet somewhere in person, preferably somewhere where i can have a few beers.
