Default Goodell entertaining idea of having Super Bowl in London

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3065254

"There's a great deal of interest in holding a Super Bowl in London," Goodell told reporters Monday. "So we'll be looking at that."

Yeah, um, that's a GREAT idea. gg, NFL.

This statement is a shameless attempt to drum up publicity for a really crappy NFL game that is going to be played there in a couple weeks. You and every terrible ESPN analyst that discusses it should buy a bridge before it is too late.

Curious why this is a massive deal? The Super Bowl sucks generally.

Playing the SB in a non-NFL city is far preferable to having a team give up a home game. I like.

not sure what the deal is either. are the few people shelling out $2500+ for tickets really going to care that their plane ticket is a few hundred dollars more expensive? most people watch it on tv so it makes no difference to them. it sucks that some random us city will miss out on a major source of revenue but besides that it doesn't matter.

I think far less US residents would be willing to go overseas for the SB than taking a flight to San Diego. But as long as it's on TV, you're right, I personally couldn't give a damn.

It sounded terrible at first. Then I thought about it for a minute. This would bring a ton of interest to the sport and possibly spring it internationally, especially if the game was good with star players shining. I approve.

I really like the way Goodell has handled the commissioner role, but this idea isn't good at all.

Wouldn't this be like moving the UEFA Championships over to the USA? While the exposure to a new market is nice, soccer will never be the #1 sport in the States, while American football will never be the #1 sport in Europe. I would bet that at least half of the people who would go watch the Super Bowl in London are Americans who made the trip across the pond. The SB is such an American tradition, this is pretty unnecessary if you ask me.

i don't know i think having the champions league final here could generate a lot of american interest in it that wasn't there before.
