I understand the desire to rank LSU above OSU, but you have to be somewhat results-oriented. The great thing about college football is every game matters and the upsets, when they happen, are so meaningful and devastating for the losing team. If you just go by Vegas lines or whatever, you wind up in a world where you are sitting at a computer with a pocket protector watching the final seconds a great upset and your reaction is "Doesn't matter: LSU is still favored over everyone else." What kind of world is that? Ok that's hyperbole but really it has to be some fusion of results and potential/ability. You don't just put all unbeatens ahead of all 1 loss teams, and you don't just put the Vegas favorite ahead of everyone else either.

It's ridiculous and I can't believe I actually believe it, but USF is the #1 team in the country this week. I just can't see why they shouldn't be right now.

1. USF
2. OSU
3. LSU
4. BC
5. OU
6. WVU
7. ASU
8. USCe
9. UK
10. USCw

USF probably should be ahead of BC and that was my hardest decision of my top 10 but i can respect that.

RedEye,

I believe you forgot Hawaii in that.

Edit: Just to say they have no notable wins and games that remain that matter vs Fresno, vs Boise, vs Washington. None of those are really big either, but FSU and BSU are conference games so I have to put something into those, and UW is there only big non-conferece game for the year.

If almost losing to Florida Atlantic isn't good enough reason to put them out of the top 5, I don't know what is.
