Default if u ever wanted to see a good example of range merging...

i think this hand delivers.

villain is 31/28 losing player after 240 hands. no other specific reads. ive been playing sLAG.

first, i wonder if anyone shoves PF here given villains PFR% even some of the time.

ok onto the real dilemma. since he is playing sick LAG there is a pretty big chance i still have the best hand. if im behind i still have good equity as long as my flush isn't dominated.

so here is where range merging comes in. if i shove here, villain is likely to fold some better hands that beat me and call with worse hands that im ahead of. its possible he could fold TT/JJ and a pair of weak queens. and on the flip side its also possible he could end up making a call with some type of hand containing an A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

the only way im in really bad shape is if he calls with any higher pair than me that also includes a diamond which is mostly AA/KK/JJ/TT/QT/QJ/KQ/AQ. this might seem like a lot of hands that beat me, but if you distribute all hands equally he is ~75% more likely to have those hands without a diamond. even against a set i have 9 to 11 outs (albeit he has redraws) which isnt in terrible shape.

i also take down this pot right here probably the majority of the time considering how wide his PFR% is.

thoughts?

i kinda like it cause he probably doesn't have much. i don't think he's calling with worse though and if he did have kq/aq i don't think he's folding, idk if he folds a weaker queen or three bets a weaker queen pf, that's unlikely imo, even for a guy with his stats.

if he would fire again as a bluff, but would fold to a shove, and you believe you're in good shape vs. his range, maybe just calling and peeling the turn might be an option.

This looks horrific. This isn't range-merging, its spewing.

I'd be pretty surprised if OP's shove wasn't +EV. The question is if calling is better, which is debatable and time consuming to prove.

Well I would assume he would have some other reads on opponent here. I don't think he ever calls with worse, so this is not an example of range merging. Not even close to one imo. I would like to have some idea of how the opponent plays postflop before I would do this.

i dont think u can ever say this hand is horrific. my equity is like 35-40% against his calling range. plus add in FE and its a slightly -EV push at worst if that.

edit: well actually maybe 30-35% since im gonna be crushed when he does have a higher pair+diamond.
