Default preflop

200nl

100bb effective stacks

sb is a TAG reg, running 21/18/4.5 so he's pretty aggro preflop and attempt to steal is 34%. opening the sb fairly often against your bb but nothing insane. you've 3bet him once or twice before and he's folded both his btn and sb.

sb opens to $8, you're in the bb w/ XX and 3bet him to $24, he thinks for like 3 secs and shoves.

whats a good range for the 3bet preflop and what range are we calling the shove with?

3-betting- who knows, alot.

calling the shove? maybe 99+, AQ+? (you could maybe add some other marginal stuff there).

this is so situational, but it's important to begin gauging when Villain's are going to start playing back at you. Then u need to adjust and tighten up your 3-betting ranges and calling the 4-bet pushes lighter.

fwiw, statements like "once or twice" are vague because it suggests real numbers but is also a common phrase who's numerical value might not be literal.

wow, you call off light Orange. I'm only calling AK/QQ+ the first time he does this. 3bet a huge range pf tho.

yea, agreed. probably should have added like

"I assume he realizes at this point I'm playing back at him to some degree and also that my 3bet range is also fairly wide in this spot."

i think 99+, AQ+ isn't that light really. i would probably look him up with 88 too, tbh. AJ is probably slightly too weak. he is way more likely to be bluff shoving the 1st time imo, so i would look him up lighter the first time, then tighten up my call a shove range

I'd like to see a range against which calling 99-TT are profitable. And I don't think g-bucks is the correct way to calculate this problem, since he doesn't know your calling range (?). Also, I wouldn't exactly call what OP described as "history."

we dont have any relevant history. he has never come over a 3bet before.

my range here is pretty tight until i either see one of his 4bets shown down light, or he starts 4betting regularly. QQ+/AK and QQ seems marginal.
