Default Bay 101, 40 game, best river line?

9-handed, 40/80 @ Bay 101 on Wed. night...villain is Scott, FWIW...the only thing I know is that he's a regular at the 100/200 game there. This is our first hand together.

I'm in the BB with T8o. Villain open-raises from the CO. I'm the only caller.

Flop is 863r. I check-raise, he 3-bets, I 4-bet, he calls. Turn is a 5. Bet-call. River is a J. I'm debating between c/c and b/c. IMO, b/f is just not an option in this spot.

Thoughts?

As an aside, I ran into a "TT" there...I try to be subtle and ask him, "do you dress better than you play?" He looks at me like I'm from some other planet...but, I know that a couple other people at the table know exactly what I'm saying.

Given your brief description, I like the flop 4-bet. When he calls you on the turn it looks a lot like he has {T9, 1 pair}. Any UI big cards he 3-bet with on the flop often fold here cuz most of the draws you could have been overplaying now at least made a pair. There are more 1 pair combos you beat {54s,75s,87s,98,etc) that will chk/behind than combos of T9 that will bluff if you check. So you should bet.

As for whether or not to call a raise: why do you expect him to bluff-raise? As discussed before, only busted draw is T9 and since it looks like you have at least a pair, you can expect to be losing much more than 90% of the time when raised on the river.

bet/fold. although you're almost never going to get raised on this river, when you do get raised it's almost never going to be a bluff

I've played a lot with Scott, bet the river here. You can probably fold to a raise too.

Also, I know you were trying to thwart the free card raise here (which Scott is very capable of) by going 4-bets on the flop, another option for that can be to just call his 3-bet then donk the turn.

Take old Scottie to value-town here on the river. You should call a raise if it comes, but I suspect he will just call and check behind if you check. I have played with Scottie for years.

Scott will definately raise here on the end with a bluff. I'm not saying if it's right or wrong to do so, but he is one of those guys who will do these things from time to time. The fact that he's playing down a level from his normal game increases his probability of making a bluff raise.

scott gets a more crazy rep than he deserves, but he is still capable of pulling one over you, so given how big you made this pot, you should almost never fold here. i would bet this river 100% of the time and expect to be good like 85+% of the time.

also, TT in that game is an Asian dude. the TT you are thinking of is white and lives and plays in Vegas.
