Default Turning Stone (Syracuse)

I use to go to Turning Stone for a few days almost every week but have not been back since 2002. I'm thinking of resuming my trips down there. Can anyone give me a update on what the games are like now.

My preference is to play 10-20 and 20-40 limit.

Thanks in advance.

Henry, I can tell you from my experiences there (about 7 or 8 sessions this past 6 months) about the games. I've been there on weekends, when it's busiest, so I don't know about weekends. On weekends there seems to be:
-a few very low limit 2-4, 3-6 and 4-8 games
- one 15-30 game
-10-15 tables or thereabouts of 1-2 100max which is soft generally but crapshoot
-2 tables or so of 1-2 200max which is a decent game
-1 table of 2/5 300 max and 1 table of 500 max, neither of which i've played

i'll be up there a week from tonight, for a couple days of long sessions trying to grind, if anyone wants to meet up

That is a little disappointing. They use to have 4+ tables of 10-20 or higher on weekdays. I use to play Rama on Sunday-Tuesday then Syracuse Wednesday-Thursday. I guess it is still worth a visit though.

Meeting up isn't an option as I am looking to come in Oct. Once the new nightclub opens. I figure GF can shop in Syracuse during the day while I play and then night time entertainment would be right at the casino.

Usually one 15-30 game that is touted as starting every day at the same time (12:00 noon?). By afternoon towards the weekend the wait can get long. There was a sporadic 20-40 the weekend of the poker/pool tournaments.

yeah, i'll be there a few weekends in october as well. Do you know when the nightclub is opening? Also anyone have a timetable on the alcohol situation there, what are they going to do with respect to that?
No 10-20 games that i've seen, just one 15-30 game and a few 4-8's and lots of small no limit. Seems AC, LA and maybe vegas are the best places for middle limits these days

The 15/30 has actually dried up most weekdays. Fri-Sun it seems to go usually.

The nightclub was suppose to open in October but that was before I heard about the alcohol issue so I don't know if that is still the date.

I'm not sure I even understand the alcohol issue. If I read the notice correctly not only does the casino not serve booze anymore but they don't allow it in your own hotel rooms?

well they used to let you bring your own booze to the tables, now they don't allow that and frown upon it. I've never stayed there so I dont know about hotel rooms. If nightclub comes they may contract an outside company to bring the booze, who knows. I guess they make more $ off the 18-21 gamblers than they would off the booze money theyre losing.

Is there any other poker in NY state?

I use to play on the native reserve casino in Massina but it was a pretty dead poker room and I heard it closed.
