Default 40/80 Trips meets the ugly river

40/80 Bay 101

Villain is probably the best player at the table besides me, and is one of the few that knows what he's doing. He's been pretty TAG the whole night.

I am on big blind, villain is on button. Folds around to villain who raises. I make it 3 bets with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], villain calls.

Flop is 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I bet. Villain calls.

Turn is 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I bet. Villain calls.

River is 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I bet. Villain raises. I call.

River bet good or is check/call better?

It depends on what he'd peel with and what he's bet (bluff) the river with. I'm not particularly worried about the spades, just would like to get a call on the river. Since of his range is likely AX with a decent X that he'd like to show down, I like the bet. I def pay off the raise too.

This would be a better post if you didnt include the info about villian raising the river.

While it is tough to imagine what the villian could have where that river card wouldn't improve him, in light of how he played the earlier streets (i.e., if he had medium pair he would raise the flop or turn, and two big cards would probably not be played this way, either), I prolly still have to bet/crycall the river.

hmm, this board texture is such that I find that anyone with a reasonable piece might bet it for us. I mean every draw got there, and a mid over pair could bet the river for us if we check. I'm still such a nit for bet/folding rivers, and I hate bet/crying calls. tough spot, nice hand to post. I nit it out and check/call, maybe expect to see something like Ah3h or the spade flush.

Don't you think the spade flush would have raised somewhere in a BSB spot?
