Default Restrictions on Parlays

Just a quick question about why a site would not let you make a specific game part of a parlay? (i.e. on Bodog you cannot make the A&M game part of a parlay currently). What would make a site do this? If it's because they believe they left an edge out there or something then why wouldn't they just change the line?

Is it a circled game with lower limits? If so, there is good reason they don't want you to parlay it - because their software probably does not limit the parlay on specific teams. For example, if the limit on circled games is $1,000 and you could parlay it, you could parlay it to a bunch of other games at $1,000 per parlay and circumvent the limits.

On the other hand, if it is not a circled game, then I have no good answer.

What do you mean by "circled game"? Thanks.

A "circled game" is a game that the sportsbook designates as one that they are willing to take lower limits. It may be due to a possible injury or suspension. If a sportsbook normally takes $10K per game, they may only take $500 on a circled game.

Then maybe it is because of Memphis' big dog being listed as questionable?

If you're playing at Bodog, this is what they have in the FAQ for this question, basically what King Yao said.

Why can't I parlay or tease circled lines?

A line may be circled and subject to reduced betting maximums when factors other than game play (e.g., injuries or weather conditions) could affect the outcome of the game. You can't parlay or tease them because we don't have enough information on the game and can't accurately balance the action as it comes in. Our business model is to attempt to balance action on all games and protect our bottom line. Doing so allows us to offer the best bonuses and customer service in the industry. We do, however, attempt to have all of our lines un-circled. The red box may be removed closer to the start of the game.
