No, he was overhyped because he was playing incredibly well. And now he is underhyped because people are thinking he is a fluke when he isn't.

[/ QUOTE ]

how do you know he isnt?

he had almost as many subpar games as he had 'great' games.

i havent seen much of him this year, but he looked awful saturday. he underthrew recievers all day long. eff him.

Charlie,

This is why I said Romo was the potatoes that made up the stew. Yes, he is a very big part of that "football game," we need to use that term loosely there since it was borderline football.

The magnitude of a f*ck-up has nothing to do with the overall scheme of things actually. If Roy Williams and Brady James had any clue whatsoever Romo is taking a knee right there and not holding for the FG. See, the point is that while Romo's screw up is top 5 blunders in Cowboy history, the game wasn't remotely his fault and to say it was is to have a very narrow outlook.

For instance, the penalty that bothers me the most in Football is the excessive celebration penalty...not that we have but that players are selfish enough to get one. Football is the ultimate team game and for a WR to get in the end zone there is a ton that has to happen before TO, Chad Johnson or any other jack-off gets in the endzone. If a lineman misses a block he doesn't get in. If a QB misses a read he doesn't get in. If a RB/FB misses picking up a blitz he doesn't get in. If the other routes aren't ran correctly he doesn't get in. Yet, if everything happens perfectly and he scores he goes in there and selfishly costs his team/defense field postion. The numbers on the opponent at least getting 3 points after an excessive celebration penalty are nuts! Field position is everything but he wants to sleep in the endzone or putt with a cone or some crap. Same thing, Romo is just one guy and one play in an onslaught of horrific football plays in 4 quarters.

*0ff-topic* I was listening to the radio yesterday and they brought up a good point about the media, hype and Romo. Think of this scenario: Romo bobbles the hold just as he did, except this time there isn't a shoestring tackle and he dives into the endzone (in the actual play he was a half yard short of the first and yard and a half from the end zone). The way the media would have portrayed it would have been the same as all year, "Look at how Romo can make something out of nothing, he's the hero, we haven't seen a QB w/ the presence of mind, in a pressure sitation like that to be able to react the way he did since [insert some HOF or incredible QB that doesn't deserved to mentioned here]." They would have been calling him the Jedi again. Sure they would have called him butterfingers but they would have laughed it off b/c he won and he scored and he is improvisational.

This was from The Ticket, a local radio show. More or less what they said.
