10/20. Overbet bluff in barrels in a paired board.

I have been playing standard solid poker for an hour at this table.
Vilain seems a bit loose/donkish. He tends to call cbets and the likes with thin holdings a lot. No key hands between us yet.

I rarely find a spot for an overbet bluff. Do you like the move? I set it up by betting a small amount on the turn.

My toughts at the time:
-He will fold if he has nothing
-He will call and check the river if he has not much, and an overbet will represent great strength.
-He will reraise or call/lead if he has K or better.

Would you agree with this read for an average 10/20 opponnent? I moved up recently so I am still adjusting.

Why go out of your way to underbet the turn so you can overbet the river when you could just bet more on the turn and have the river bet be pot-sized or close to it?

i think he calls with all pairs &gt;6's. he instacalls w/ any K, and i think he's calling with most hands in general.

i think the way you played it was poor. i would have raised the flop and then made a PSB on the turn, or as played I prefer to bet 120% of the pot on the turn, not the river.

I think you should have bet a tiny bit more on the turn so your bet on the river is an exact pot bet. If you had decided to bluff no matter what.

As you move up, this becomes a pretty standard play. Your logic is fine. Occasionally someone will slowplay a boat against u here or have AA, but a lot of times you can steal this. I don't think you need the overbet, as if someone is going to call the pot on the river, they will call ur overbet and will save you money in long run. Id bet about the pot and if he makes a good call or was slowplaying then reload.

Really?? He's a shorty. Nobody folds against a shorty until the shorty proves he can play (which is almost never). Seems like a standard play by UTG to induce a bluff. A pair of 4's has a good chance of calling this river.

Now why would you wanna raise the flop? Would you raise that flop with AK (which is the hand he's trying to represent)? I think not.

I don't know what OP means by loose/donkish, but if he's the calling station kind of player you don't wanna make fancy plays like this. Big risk, small profit imo.
