can someone please tell me why i suck at poker
ok its the sunday $300 buy in at foxwoods, i play it around 2-3 time a month. 10k in chips to start,25m min levels.
second level blinds 50/10, everyone at the table had been fairly tight no pots over 2-3k yet. Folded around to me in the hijack, i make it 400 to go with two red aces, i get called by a fairly weak player(i've played with him two or three times before) out of the big blind. The flop comes ace six duece, with the ace and six of clubs. BB checks i bet 700 he c/r to 1400, i flat called. The turn was the ten of clubs, he check again i bet 1500 and he calles. river is the five of clubs putting four clubs on board..he check and i checked behind and was disgusted when he flipped up a set of sixes, i wanted to puke because had i just re-raised the c/r on the flop i felt him easily...i know i played this hand horrible but i just want to know how badly and how many mistakes i made in this fiasco...be brutal |

Re: can someone please tell me why i suck at poker
Well first off, did you put player on hand pre flop? Then did u put player on hand post flop after check min. raise? Also you probally smooth called very quickly. Much like an internet play. Figuring they would insta shove when turn hits. But usually doesnt play out like that live. You should have had a visual read on player and strength of his hand. Also with 2 clubs, he may have had flush draw. You should have easily re-popped it, with that draw alone. Also with you calling his raise and being the original raiser, he's probally going to put you on a strong hand. So only hand he would bet if club did not come on turn is 66 or lower set, which if he did have you take his whole stack on flop, and build momentum to run through tourny. So basically your not going to trap him by bluffing off with nothing or simple top pair decent kicker. O ya nothing wrong with check on river. Just flop was played horrid. That's y u SUK. So keep practicing and you'll improve.

If you've played him before, can you give an indication of how likely you think he is to check-raise a FD on an ace-high flop into the PFR? If the answer is not very, then you should definitely three-bet the flop.
I think the rest of the hand is fine as played. Maybe bet more on the turn. |

what paragraphs does am i skipping?? [/ QUOTE ] You are skipping the USE of paragraphs, as does the first reply. Makes posts hard to read. Also, repop on flop. Rest of the hand is fine. |

Re: can someone please tell me why i suck at poker
sounds like the table dynamic was that everyone was tight thus far. i imagine you havent stole a lot from this player since its early. so i have to give him credit for some sort of hand preflop...pocket pair, ace+, perhaps KQ, J10..the key here IMO is that the suited ace hit the flop, meaning its less likely he's on a club draw. there are only 3 or 4 hands in this range that could be the draw. that said, I rarely will give an opponent credit for the flush draw unless he spews a huge tell..so his flop raise tells me he has a big ace or a big hand. most players arent strong enuf to 3bet with middle pair into a PFR with an ace on board..you gotta repop him here..as played, bet turn bigger, check river.
