South Korea has a professional StarCraft league, it's broadcasted on TV and stuff.. it works just like any other professional sports.

There are teams, they sign players to a certain deal and teams compete with each other. Premier players can earn a very good money, and are recognized nationally. From what I know, ElkY was considered to be a very good player, but not THAT famous.

Anyways, in my limited experience in 10/20 and 25/50 he was nothing special. I had no problem playing him HU or short, but maybe my style just worked well vs him. Other friends however have alternately told me he sucks, is ok, and is very good, so there you have it, a clear, concise answer on his skill level.

ElkY didn't make a "bunch" of money playing StarCraft. StarCraft is big in Korea, but it's not that big. The average salary for pro-gamers there is like 25-30k a year. Only a few make more than that. I'm pretty sure ElkY's money is all from poker (atleast originally).
