So how do you put them in the dishwasher? With the plastic frame thing or just loose? Normal dishwasher cycle?

I typically put the hat in loose on the top shelf of the dishwasher - the little plastic dividers give it enough support. I've usually just gone with the normal cycle and regular dish soap.

Incidentally, if you don't want to go out and buy one of those hat dryers, you can invert an appropriately-sized saucepan and put the hat on that to dry. It should maintain the shape pretty well.

Clothes washer isn't a good idea. Every time I've done that it messes up the hat.

Just soak them in warm water in the sink for an hour with a litte clothes detergent and then knead the dirt/sweat spots with your fingers or an old toothbrush. Then air dry. Should come out like new.

I got one of these as a stupid gift a few years ago, but it seems to work pretty well. Pop the hat in & toss it in with a load of laundry.

has anybody put scotchbrite on their hats right away when they're new?

[/ QUOTE ]I had the guy do that last time I bought a hat, but I haven't worn it enough for it to matter. However I wish I had done it with a few other hats I have. I don't know about ya'll, but my hats get the sweat stains especially after a few games of softball.
