Making a huge bankroll with online tournaments only?

Hey all,

I have a question, not sure if this is the correct subforum. Are there any people here who have made, say, $200k (starting with a few hundred) by playing only online tournaments?

I'm thinking about putting all my energy into tournaments and skipping cash games for now, that's why I wanted to know. I'm aware of the huge variance, but I find tournaments much more exciting than cash games (no offense to cash game players here).

why stop at 200K? Seriously for every one you may find you'll find innumerable people who have ost their shirts...MTTs are fine but keep your expectation reasonable

There are a lot of highstakes MTT players, who started with nothing. Annette_15 (never deposited a cent .. played freerolls, micro SNGs,..), Timex (read his story in MTTc), ...

Some were lucky and hit a big score early (winning $3R, $10R,..) that enabled them to play higher stakes MTTs and some just slowly build their bankroll through SNGs.

I would play SNGs to slowly but steadily build a bankroll and throw some MTTs in for a chance at a big score. Play within your bankroll, read every strategy thread, post 1-2 hands yourself / day and you should have no problem moving up in stakes.
It just requires more effort to move up in limits once you have left the micro stakes. Every donk who has browsed some threads in ssmtt at 2p2 can own 4/180 but in a $100FO, $50R or $100R you will be up against another breed of players.
