Default My first tournament in years

So I haven't played in any golf tournaments since I was in highschool.

As of last summer I am a class A PGA Professional and I am going to start playing in Section events.

First one is on Thursday at Corta Bella. http://www.cortebellagolfclub.com/

Ive shot 71, 69, 67 at work this week so I hope to keep it up. Wish me luck.

TR Thur. evening, or Friday if I end up at the casino afterward.

Good luck.

Played that course before? Practice rounds? What do you expect to shoot?

I'm a former Australian tour player(96-2001), been teaching for the last 6 years. Every year, once a year, I go to the Japanese tour school. In six cracks at it, I have always found it difficult to play competitively due to a lack of match fitness. The times I have done well I have been confident in my routine and had a good game plan which allowed me to free up my swing and the nerves worked for me as added concentration. So I can only wish you luck and advise that you plan how you're going to play the course, but also how you plan to manage yourself.

Keep it simple, have fun and GOOD LUCK mate!

Well I've never played the course before so that makes it hard.

I have acutally been working on a pre-shot routine and my putting stroke for the past week so if I can keep my focus then I'll play ok. This is the first of about 10 tournaments this summer so just want to get broken into the feeling again.

Hass,

I'd be interested in your take on Corte Bella. I have a friend who has a Troon Foursome pass and has played there a few times and really likes it, particularly the value. But, it's WAY out on the NW side of town (whereas most Troon properties are on this side of town, possibly excepting Whirlwind, which I played yesterday (BRAG TUESDAY GOLF LOLZ) but which isn't that far). Also, Estrella Mountain Ranch is way out there but for whatever reason we consider it worth the drive.

Best of Luck, please keep us posted.

Well I never found it very difficult but it's very time consuming. The hardest part for most people is passing the PAT. I played a lot of tournament golf in highschool and was a scratch or one handicap when I was 18 so the PAT was a joke to me.

I have looped in a few PAT's and seen many people that could me very good golf professionals, but they can't break 90 in competition.

after that there is 3-7 years worth of bookwork to do, depending on how much you can do at a time and how fast.

The books cover food and bev., tournament ops, merchandising, supervising... anyway that kind of thing.

Cliffnotes: if you have time it's not that hard.
