I think its a shame men stopped wearing nice hats.

As do I, which is is what got me started thinking of wearing one. I just finished rereading Time and Again, and was thinking of how classy life was in both the late 19th century and mid 20th.

"I think this would look good, but only if you shaved."

I've been clean-shaven lately, here are some pics from about a year ago, and 6 months ago, respectively. I don't have any good recent pics online.

Here at Rice, the MOB, which is our marching band, wears fedoras. Everyone in the MOB is a huge nerd, but the MOB is nonetheless loved at Rice. It's hard for me to see a fedora without thinking of nerdy MOB kids, but I still think they're kinda cool. Now I want one.

One, you need a slightly wider brim than normal to make it look flattering.

Two, make sure you know when/where/with what you will wear it otherwise you're wasting your money.

Three, I'm pretty sure the JJ Hat Center on 5th around 32th will reblock hats for you and they have an excellent selection. If you get a good felt hat, you need to have it reblocked periodically.

As long as you don't wear the hat with idiotic sunglasses and participate in horrible sketch comedy at football halftime shows you should be ok.

TP,

You can pull it off. Most can't.

Will you be wearing it or without your facial hair?

Also, you're not the first 2+2er to go for this look.

I bought a bunch of these hats 20 years ago, for my community theater group's "Guys and Dolls". I thought they were cool as hell, and spent about a year wearing hats when dressed up.

I still have my grandfather's fedora. When my grandmother asked me if I wanted anything of my grandfathers after he passed away I did not hesitate to ask for his best fedora.

Get one. You will not regret it.
