I hate people apologizing for this retard who drives drunk so habitually as to make it a problem worth this thread. Beat the [censored] out of him, knock his ass out if you have to.

FWIW, you don't need to call the cops on him. With any luck, they'll get him on their own, before he does any harm to innocent people nearby. A DUI would hopefully scare this moron straight.

And if he were worried about a DUI costing him his job at all, you would think he wouldn't be so goddamn [censored] stupid and KEEP DOING SOMETHING THAT WILL COST HIM HIS JOB, SOONER OR LATER. Jesus effing Christ. I don't know why you're so worried about helping him keep this apparently AWESOME job when he's hell bent on losing it himself.

I DD all the time for my friends, and I tell everybody they can call me at any time of day or night if they need a ride, I don't care. I'll pay their cab fare, I'll do whatever it takes to keep them safe. That's what friends are for. Hopefully your friend is at least intelligent enough to listen to you when you sit him down and tell him how dumb he acts.

Waki,

We need more info.

How old is he?

26

Where does he usually drink? (bars? parties? in the city? in the suburbs?)

burbs

When does he usually drink? (every night? once a weekend?)

highly variable. I've only seen him drunk on the weekends.

Who does he usually drink with?

Friends, family, girlfriends, etc. Whoever is around.

Do you two live close?

20 minutes.

How drunk is he driving? (a couple beers or [censored] canned?)

He has an extremely high tolerance to alcohol. He can drink a case of beer very easily. When he's driving he's not stumbling and can drive pretty well. Keep in mind that 12 beers will only make him energetic and jocular.

How far is he driving?

Sometimes steak and shake sometimes 15-ish minutes.

If you are with him when he drinks at a bar then there is no excuse. Find a designated driver or take a cab. Do you go out with a big group of people? Are you normally driving drunk yourself but not as drunk as him? Does the bar you go to have a DD program?

If he drinks at someones home then you should find a way to carpool with someone who won't be drinking or just take his keys when he is drinking.

When we go to the bars we will get a cab. Then he gets pissed cuz he wants to drive. If we are at a home he will drive just to go to steak and shake. He literally thinks he is fine to drive drunk. In all honesty he's not that bad of a driver but he shouldn't be doing it on principle and for legal reasons. Plus it's only a matter of time before he pushes himself too far.

It's kind of odd. He is being arrogantly stupid but not aggressively stupid. A LOT of people love him cuz he's so laid back and fun to be around. He just has that invincible carefree fun loving attitude that may very well cost him his life.

Sorry I missed these questions before.

Heh. You seem more emotional about this than I am. He's got a serious problem and I literally don't know how to handle it. In all honesty I'm not sure there's much I really can do. If that's the case then well that's life. But if there is something I can do then I will do it.

wacki,

Depending on how much you care, you could always get a pool going to install one of the breathalyzer-ignition hookup things that habitual drunks are forced to have.

All,

MADD is nothing but a bunch of neoprohibitionists.

If his driving ability is honestly not impaired then shut up and let him be. So long as his driving ability isn't impaired he's not going to hurt anyone and I wouldn't worry about it.

And why on earth would he allow this to happen? It's not like you can hook [censored] up to someone else's car without their permission.
