Well 6 buys ins at this game is still only $300. There are 1/2 games that go up to the 10x the buy in that this game has. It's all personal preference. But if rebuying multiple times tilts you, stay away or at least let me know when you're going to be playing

Nice. I figured you for a solid player. Wouldn't you be at a better advantage over opponents when you can actually use all 4 betting rounds?

I played in this game a fair bit the last time I went to Vegas. I didn't intend to play in it very much but I was staying at the Luxor with a few friends and we ended up hanging out in that poker room when we had time to kill. I had originally intended to walk to another room like MGM or Excal but usually just ended up sitting at Luxor if I only had an hour or two to play.

I wouldn't recommend this game to any decent player. It was annoying not having enough chips to play with. And even when I was able to get a decent sized stack most of the time the other players had like $30 each. Also playing with such short stacks helps the mediocre players to play better because they can't make any huge mistakes either preflop or postflop. I didn't find the average player in that game to be any worse than a typical 1/2 NL game either.

So basically I don't recommend playing there very much. However, this is a great NL game to get drunk in. It's so easy to play push bot poker and they were fairly quick at bringing Coronas.

Is the opportunity cost worth the free room? You can make more playing a legitimate game.

I played in this game at the Luxor a few Saturdays ago in the late morning. I thought the 1-1-2 structure sucked big time, so I did not stay very long. At one point, we were 6-handed, and the structure changed to the traditional 1-2. However, the table quickly filled back up and we were at 1-1-2 again.

The 1-3 NL at the Excalibur next door was much better, IMO.

Its the lowest NL game in the city, easy pickings but the 3 blinds and structure of 25bb's sucks, IMO.

There is a 1/1 40NL game, but it's in Henderson.

This style game is very similiar to the one i broke my teeth learning NL in the casinos on, which was a 1/1 $40.

Basically, lots of limping and try to get your money in when you hit something. Top pair good kicker for instance.
Also, Raise and Re-raise anything premium pre flop, and lots of things pretty darn good.
AQ-AK, AA, KK, QQ, JJ and sometimes TT are all hands that I would be willing to stack off for 50 bucks preflop If someone raised and I could get a push in.

It is just a very different game to play until you accumulate some chips and has to be played accordingly.

I've played this game quite a bit. It's actually a fun structure and there is a bit more play than others would indicate:

The max buy is effectively ~100, since you can rebuy at 49, and most people do.

Games vary a lot, sometimes they play really tight passive, other times total fish fest. There are a lot of regulars that play here as well, they usually play okay.

In general, most of the players play passively, so you can wait for a good spot to get your money in. A lot of tourists stop by and dump money onto the table.

I was playing in Dec. and a couple french guys came and sat w/ craps money, got all my money in pre w/ one of them who had QTo vs my aces (I lost). Later I doubed through when I flopped Aces up vs. him when he had no pair no draw on the flop. He ludicrously overbet, I pushed, he called. And these guys had tons of money.

Obviously your not going to make rent money playing here but its a fun game.

Interestly, I've also met a lot of people from the headliner shows that play at the Luxor playing this game for fun.

I played in this game a few months ago and it was nothing like what's being described here. It was just like any other NL game, only smaller. Opening raise was usually between $6 and $10. Not much raising postflop, but when there was, it was pretty much understood the raiser was pot-committed. Deepest stack on the table was about $120.

Thanks for the expectations. Like I said, I am not going to play there very often..just enough to fulfill my poker rate requirement which is 5 hours a day divided by 3 people staying in the room.

I might use it as a drinking game a few nights late. I prefer to play at Bally's or Ceaser's-I like MGM but one of my friends wont play there.
