fold looks like he is saying he can beat ak cant see a hand you are beating either split (kq) or way behing, straight, set, two pair even ak (unlikely)

Yeah I shrug and call here as well. I don't see the 4 helping him that often; and our flop call looks more like weakness than strength.

I agree with the shrug/call - I suspect the flop call makes him think you don't have any decent K or you'd have raised him. He has some kind of draw that the 4 didn't complete and since you obv don't have K he can just blow you out of the pot here. He is failing to realize you didn't raise the flop because you had action behind you and you didn't want to get yourself trapped.
