That was pretty slanted against us.

Re: Online Gambling Discussion on NPR\'s \"On Point\"
If that is true, then it is the 2nd time this week that our views have not been represented very well to the American public. In the section of the Michael Medved Show discussing online gambling last week, the host would not let anyone who wanted to say something positive about online gambling get a word in edgewise. We need to find a radio show where the host is on our side and let us freely discuss our views and positions. Does anyone have any connections to radio shows??

Re: Online Gambling Discussion on NPR\'s \"On Point\"
I listened to it and it didn't sound good. That ex-addict chick was likely a fish that went busto and likes to make generalizations. Sure, for her it was an additiction, but for me its just a pasttime. I cannot understand why we would allow the 5% of gamblers that become addicted and go busto ruin it for the rest of us. What about booze? Tobacco? Come on, its not like 80% of poker players on the internet are losers. I have a regular job and family, and still make thousands every year on my spare time playing poker online. Anything and everything will have a few people that are abusive and bring reproach upon the activity. What about religion? Are we gonna outlaw religion because of David Koresh?

Who gambles at work? These guys are just amazing!
One person committed suicide in Goodlatte's district, but what about the thousands who have died from tobacco? |

if ur company is dumb enough not to block gambling software downloads then its obvious that employee's gambling at work is the least of their concerns.

Re: Online Gambling Discussion on NPR\'s \"On Point\"
That was incredibly biased.
1) One speaker who was more or less neutrally talking about the possible effects of the legislation. 2) Jim Leach 3) A professor who wants all gambling banned 4) A pro-gambling guy who had some good points but wasn't all that great at articulating them. He should have drawn a parallel to alcohol prohibition and talked about the important civil liberties issues. He should have emphasized that this is a leisure activity, like going to the movies. 5) A woman who became addicted to online poker and now wants to shut it all down because she couldn't do it responsibly. They should have had a well-known poker pro, to talk about how poker is different than other forms of gambling, that it helps develop thinking skills and character traits that are very useful in society. |
