Default 10NL 3 barrel bluff

Party Poker, $0.05/$0.10 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 10 Players
LegoPoker Hand History Converter

Hero (): $11.39
: $9.95
: $1.30
: $1.41
: $9.85
: $2.19
: $10.15
: $14.46
: $12.84
: $17.54

Pre-Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A dealt to Hero ()
2 folds, <font color="red"> raises to $0.40</font>, folds, <font color="red">Hero raises to $0.90</font>, 5 folds, calls $0.50

Flop: ($1.95) 2 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 (2 Players)
<font color="red"> bets $0.80</font>, <font color="red">Hero raises to $2</font>, calls $1.20

Turn: ($5.95) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
checks, <font color="red">Hero bets $3</font>, calls $3

River: ($11.95) 9 (2 Players)
checks, <font color="red">Hero bets $5.49 and is All-In</font>

I'd put the villain on QQ or JJ almost certainly, possibly AK but less likely. Was representing A's.

I know it's a very risky play but I was trusting my read of both the opponent being fairly tight and his cards

Is this a valid play I should use every now and then or something that is way way -EV?

At NL10 you should bluff very rarely and only when the right situation comes up. On this hand villian has already sais he wasn't folding. Your converting is a little messed up so no stack sizes. I try to check the hand down and fold to a river pushor big bet.

Just stick to ABC poker and your winrate will better for it.

your bet sizes are too small for this to be good vs a reasonable player. a poor player won't fold often enough anyway.

The biggest mistake people make at 10nl is calling too often on every street. So, a 3barrel bluff, instead of taking advantage of this huge mistake that they make, actually plays right into it. Therefore, it's pretty much never a good idea at this limit, and should be used very sparingly at any limit. I would raise more on the flop and bet more on the turn to increase FE if I did decide to bluff here, as people have suggested. Finally, in a 9 handed game, 3betting here with AQo is very marginal (I don't recommend it) and if you do it then make it a decent sized raise.

I'm not sure you can expect JJ or QQ to fold with that board at $10nl. Very risky, in my opinion.

Bluffs at 10NL are bad. Especially if he has not folded by the river.

Also, your bet sizes are way too small. If you are really trying to shove him off, you should be betting near pot imo.
