right. i am just assuming this game plays as loose as most 20/40 games do, and if so.. there is a huge range of hands that will get there most likely.

its worth trying at least.. and if it comes two cards under 5 you could be good.

Be nice to get the Q, J, T and 9s out. But as someone mentioned, they may fold anyways to the initial bet. But you're forgetting that with more players in, the more it's likely any turn can hit them.

Think of what they'll put you on doing this move. You realize, if they fold with 2 overcards if they saw your hand they'd be making a mistake? Especially if they fold a mid pair.

As Andy said, passive players generally don't like calling 2 cold on a flop. Especially on a paired board and a big overcard out there. Much less a strong flop move that they'd only do with a good hand. They're not putting you on 6s. More likely a K.

I see some merit to calling, but for now, I like Andy's line better for the reasons he stated.

Not to mention, there will be times when you are actually checkraising this with a K. However, that doesn't mean it should only be done with a K.

If i do manage to get it HU with button, I am check calling the turn and river, wether he three bets the flop or just calls.

[/ QUOTE ]

There'll be 7 bets in the pot if you get it HU. I'm not checking that turn and giving overcards a free shot. If he raises the turn, he's likely raising with a better hand.

If he 3 bets the flop, then I might slide one off or fold as he likely isn't 3 betting anything I can really beat. There aren't any draws and overcards would be hard pressed to 3 bet this with an unmade hand.

If he's a maniac, he'll 3 bet the flop to where then check calling is more valid since you're seeing the showdown against him anyways.
