Thremp, serious question:

As someone who has been semi-interested in learning how to profitably sports bet, mogwai's post above seems to make sense to me. Can you explain where you disagree with his method of learning?

If you were referring to different posts, my mistake.

The vast majority of beating sports betting lies in line shopping and the math behind it. Handicapping, if you are able to do it, is a skill that is not essential to make a large sum as a professional. Its putting the cart before the horse and people (including myself) make this error continually when starting out.

This thread is pretty bad.

[/ QUOTE ]

There are a lot of "bad" questions and bad assumptions in the OP.

But mogwai's answer is pretty strongly valid, imo, in response to the general question "how do I get started betting sports / etc"

If you think otherwise I'd certainly appreciate your thoughts.

coaching at sports betting is actually probably more helpful than poker coaching, since the correct advice is more set in stone.

i could probably do a five hour coaching session over a week period, and then periodic two hour updates every new sports season, and someone would be on their way. if someone had a big bankroll from the beginning, $300/hour would probably be huge value for them. obviously if enough people took this coaching it would make things harder for me, but i'm not convinced enough students would have the discipline to apply it properly day after day, to make that an issue.

of course if someone buys me dinner or sits next to me at a poker table, i give most of it away for free.
