Default 50NL - AQ in BB against tag

Villain is 28/15/2.2 tag. I feel like I played this horrible. Should I always 3-bet this pf versus a tag or is a call ok?

I fold pre-flop. I think a call is pretty bad.

That's why I fold pre-flop.

He's raising UTG meaning his range is smallish: 22-AA,AJ+,KQ, maybe a few other holdings...maybe not even that many hands. You are in the BB meaning you are OOP. This hand is going to be tough to play. On the button I would call. If he was UTG+1 and I was button I would raise.

As is in this hand I think folding>>>raising>>>calling.

I suppose I could be wrong. But he hits the A here and you yourself say you have no idea how to play it after hitting your hand.

I don't like raising preflop or folding. So that leaves calling as the only option. I'd ocassionally raise, but never fold. AQ is ahead of a UTGs 15 PFR range.

I call river. I don't think he has AK. if he has a set, then more power to him.

[/ QUOTE ]This is wrong. It's a lot wider assuming reasonable sample size. All broadway and a slew of suited connectors are in UTG's preflop range at 15% -- they are in mine and I am 17%. Raising preflop against this range with AQ is good. Otherwise you are playing into their hands and check-folding all kinds of flops when they cbet with nothing.

My PFR is around 15. My UTG PFR is more like 7.5 So you have to remember he's not raising 15 from every position. He's likely raising a lot more in LP and a lot less in EP.

If you're raising pre-flop with a lot of broadway cards and a bunch of suited connectors I think you need to rethink your UTG raising range.

Calling is OK from BB, but the problem is that you are OOP against the pf raiser. I imagine the whole hand you felt very uncomfortable. I would fold the turn as its obvious UTG wants to make you pay with your whole stack you don't really have the hand to do it with.

Make a note of this villian. Watch what he does against other players. Is this aggression normal with TPTK or is he trying to get you off your hand?

AQ is def ahead of top 7.5% of hands. AQ is the 5th-6th best hand.
