Couple of questions require answering:

How mature/laid back a person are you?
How much can you/do you want to spend?
Do you like AZN womenz?
Are you worried about Heat?

If the answers are yes, around $1K-$2k/mo (inclusive of eats, room/apt, and reasonable amount of nightlifing), yes, and not really then you should be fine.

I live in Phuket, and Engrish is the 2nd lingo for most Thais (at least the ones that have anything to do with bizness interacting with farangs). They speak a limited form of broken ENgrish but they try and smile a lot. If you are patient you can eventually get most thigns done.

Overall, I love it. That said, it's not for everybody. One does have to/should try and adapt to the culture of "mai pen rai" (literally translated to no problem). This can be cool if your laid back but very frustraing if you get disturbed easily by non-US service standards. Like most places, if you look for trouble you will find it. If your not looking for trouble and are generally courteous/respectful, you should be fine (this covers Police, Gubment officials and most Thais in general).

Hope thats helpful and...

SRRY YO BBV for strating up BBV4L

Yes thanks mate.

Was going to shoot you a pm to thank you for the secret cliff. Beautiful. I went there on my 30th and it owned.

The Impiana was really really good. It was pretty balla, great service, food, everything spot on. Also it has HBO which helps when the weather turns
