Default Vegas Prices Jacked Up This Week/No Rooms

I go to Vegas about 2-3 times/month and usually pay $60 to stay at the Flamingo or Harrahs for $50-60 but all this week it's $100+ and Harrahs is sold out. Anybody know what's going on this week or find a better deal for me? I really only want to go if i can stay on the strip

Edit: Even the Plaza downtown is sold out... wtf?

The Tropicana almost always has $34.00 rooms available.

Download travelaxe (www.travelaxe.com). It compiles the deals from about 12 hotels.com-like sites -- if there's a cheap rate out there to be had, you'll get it.

You go to Vegas and get a hotel room there 24-36 times a year?

Couldn't you just move there permanently?

We were the same way before we moved here. This was back when I used to play table games as well, though, so comped rooms were not a problem (gave up all pit games and went with poker exclusively once we moved here).

We lived in SoCal and would drive to Vegas bi weekly for a mixture of business and pleasure.

However, as my wife's job was steadfastly in Orange County, moving to Vegas at the time was not feasible. Eventually, she was able to get a transfer, and here we are.

Driving here and staying in the hotels was a fun time, though, and I do miss it (it was before the kids, so you can imagine).

You can sleep in my van on an air mattress for $10 a night.
