Default Party 100/200 hand from today

UTG, who has not gotten out of line yet, open raises 10 handed. Somebody cold calls, i call in the BB with AJs. The flop is AT7r. I check, UTG bets, cold caller folds, i call. Turn is an offsuit jack, and i donk, UTG calls. (I don't really want to discuss any of this, i vary my lines here and am comfortable with this part of the hand) The river brings an ugly queen. Your action and why?

Pot is big and I don't want to bet/fold here. This river is easily bluffable and really scary against a good UTG raiser, you are now behind most of his raising holdings and you won't be able to call a raise knowing that. As played, he will never give you credit for a K and might value/bluff raise that river quite often... Against someone like Gal it could easily be a check/fold tho but I'm weak and the pot is big so I c/c.

fwiw, i don't play this high but my guess is that the trickyness at this level wouldn't allow a bet/fold option and you can pickoff lots of bluffs by check calling desperation bets by small pocket pairs.

I don't see a checkraise getting rid of any hands you beat. Any set raises your turn bet and I don't see QQ or KK still there.

Checkfold seems right but I confess that I would just about never do it at the tables. I mean, I have two friggin' pair for chrissake.

But really, if he bets, all you can beat is a bluff and you say that this guy is UTG and has not got out of line. Maybe, he called the turn with 99 or 88 and then decides to bluff the river when you check but that is an unlikely parlay.

i really don't see anything you beat here. you were ahead of AK, KK, AQ, QQ, now you're toast.

Usually i wait longer to post results, but clearly the reuslts seem to be in on this hand. In the actual hand, i check/called and was shown AK. On the way to the airport today i was thinking about it, i realized that that was the worst line i really could have taken. In retrospect, i think check-fold > Bet-Fold > Check-call. Anyone, just wanted some quick feedback to make sure my head is on right here, glad to see it it.

Given some of the other threads on the main page right now, I am just glad that you didn't throw a river checkraise (to make him lay down QQ) into the mix of potential plays....hehe..

Anyway, I like your thoughts from on the way to the airport. Like you, I too would not have checkfolded (although it is clearly the right play IMO). But I'll have this thread in mind the next time this situation comes up and will likely save a bet as a result.
