Re: The Worst Strategy You\'ve Overheard at a Table
4-8 @ Mandalay
King hits the turn and I raised pre-flop bet the flop from BB "You haven't played a hand in a long time -- I guess I'll give you action" (My full house ultimately beat her second pair -- thank you very much) |

"never fold connected cards like 78 and 56. they make 2pair or better 90% of the time."

Re: The Worst Strategy You\'ve Overheard at a Table
Was at the Mirage last saturday 1/2nl. I bet $25 (around half the pot)on the river with Aces up against one other player. after a little humming and hawing he said he was calling for information and I showed/he mucked.
He did seem like a decent player and he was up a buyin or 2. The best part of his call for information (not a terrible play) was that he left 15 mins later. |

Re: The Worst Strategy You\'ve Overheard at a Table
playing at tampa hard rock, where the max buy in for any cash game is 100$ (gay)
anyway, playing 2/5 table is actually deep, mostly 400+ anyway tons of limpers and i raise to 50 w AA, an old guy with 100$ calls half his stack with 33 he flops a set and takes my money afterwards, he said "see now, i called there preflop because i'm giving myself a chance to win a big pot. if i don't hit that 3, i can easily fold. i either win a huge pot, or lose a small one." |

Re: The Worst Strategy You\'ve Overheard at a Table
Glad this thread keeps getting bumped. Reminded me of something I heard last time I was at the table:
Guy: Did you know that 2 pair makes a full house more often than a set? Me: Hahaha... yeah I guess it seems like that sometimes. Guy: No seriously. It's easier to fill up with 2 pair than if you have a set. Me: Um... well I don't think so. A set has 10 outs, and 2 pair has 4 outs. Guy: That's what you'd think, I know. But really, if you work out the odds long enough, you'll see. Trust me, you want 2 pair. Me: OK. You're probably right. No wonder I keep losing with sets. Guy: See? I told you, man. |
