($1k NL) Interesting river decision with trips.
Villian is unknown. Well, I've seen villian play exactly one hand, his BB b4 this one. He checked his option with A9 and bet and called a raise OOP on the flop of AK8, then called a $100 turn bet, then checked through on the rvr. He won vs A7.

I'd call the river.

What makes you consider folding?

Re: ($1k NL) Interesting river decision with trips.
I sure as hell don't play that high, but I call it. I don't like folding because the bet size looks like a bluff, especially after we checked the turn. It looks like he may be trying to get KK/QQ to fold. I don't like raising because I doubt a better hand will fold/worse hand will call. I think that A9 hand is very different than this, and isn't much of an indication that he would pay off on this board with aces up.

Yeah, I think he has a flush more often than not, but you have 2:1 and theres plenty of other stuff that fits his moves. Would a half pot turn bet maybe have clarified things a bit?

Re: ($1k NL) Interesting river decision with trips.
You said you thought about all 3 options but I think raising would be very very bad unless you are trying to turn your hand into a bluff.
You are ahead of TJ, the straight, and Ax but I think he would check the Ace. He could easily have the boat, flush or KJ. Of course he could very well be bluffing the "scary board". I think I lean towards a fold without any solid reads here. especially since he called in a 3 way pot, not HU. |

What makes you consider folding? [/ QUOTE ] Just because to make this river pot bet he SHOULD have a really strong hand, like at least trips or better. TP tripped up on the rvr, there is a flush possible, there is an A out there, etc. OTOH it could be a bluff. It really shouldn't be a hand like aces up, but you never know if people are playing 'correctly'....so I had to consider raising too esp after he showed a tendency to call raises with TPNK. |

Re: ($1k NL) Interesting river decision with trips.
It really looks like a flush to me. Without playing the hand seeing the timing of his play I would lean towards folding more. Also from the only hand you see him play it seems like he plays pretty straight forward.
