[ QUOTE ]
Oh and mr_pathetic, as far as donking this flop strong with a real hand, youre costing yourself money in the end. All youre accomplishing by doing that is missing a c-bet from whiffed overs. If this was multiway then obviously leading is a good idea, but its not.

[/ QUOTE ]
i'm not saying i would start doing this 24/7 just something i would use if i were trying to get into a mindf-ing contest with one particularly good observant opponent for a decently long session. I think if you have trips here and check raise it you have turned your hand face up to majority of players. c/c doesn't really disguise you either just lets them keep betting if they dumb enough to do it which i agree most are including myself but i think the whole point of the post was against one good observant tag and not most tags. for example, if someone c/r me and i have AQ i probably fold it. if someone c/c me i def go into c/c mode myself or even fold sometimes. but if someone i think is good and observant i would tend to think they would play teh same so betting into them w/ trips would have them thinking i cannot have a hand. however these players are few and far b/t so it really isn't worth it.

[/ QUOTE ]this is probably right, but i was so confused as to what the hell my opponents range was at this point i didn't know what to do. I mean i know his range is pocket pairs ak, aq but i don't feel like ive narrowed it down at all on the flop

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the first reason not to go to war with this hand, You know he's tight and a good player, pick hands light PP, suited connectors, or AKs AQs hands that can make a big hand or combo draw on the flop, then you won't have to worry about his range so much as you'll have a big hand or big combo draw on the flop already. You then can get creative, because you'll have that big hand.

I have to agree that I don't really like this play. This is only from my own experience, though. When I get fancy play syndrome at 25NL, it never seems to work. I would just stick to my normal game and find a hand to bust him.

Solid and standard >>> random and fishy

Raise Axs every once in a while to mix it up.

Nice open limp

I didn't mean to downplay your post or the rest of the hand but seriously, metagame is only going to come into play if:

You also limp AA and then overbet donk on the flop.
You start to limp PF more.
This hand gets to showdown so he can see you make this bluff with A5.
He is paying attention and will remember 2 months from now.

If he's so amazing and you can't beat him playing a solid style, how are you going to beat him with weak holdings out of position?

What are you doing if the turn is not an ace?

I could see how metagame would come into play if you previously called his pfr before with a low PP, donked pot into him with a set and stacked his overpair.

Not really sure what the KK hand has to do with anything.

If he's a good tag, then you can try 3betting him a whole lot, weak leading sets (since most ppls weak leads are so weak), and just generally table selecting better.

The play in the OP is going to sacrifice EV in the long run.

[ QUOTE ]

1) i may make him fold the best hand
2)i introduce metagame factors (i.e. i must be tilted to play like that)

[/ QUOTE ]

These are kind of contradictory. And what would you be tilted about anyway?

Mixing it up is fine, but doing completely random stuff against decent players just for the sake of it is not the best way to go about it.
