Bubble question
This morning, a friend posed this question to me and few others from our group of local live poker players. While we all agree that shoving is definitely +ev, is it the best play given this situation. I am not even sure if this is made up or from a real game, although I suspect it was from an actual game. They are only lurkers, so I said I would post this hand. Anyway what is the best course of action? (no reads were provided, and I assume 50/30/20 payout)
9-player SNG, top 3 make the money, on the bubble Blinds 250/500 UTG 6k Button 780 SB (me) 3500 BB 3300 Fold to hero with 9/9. Push, fold, other? |

Re: Bubble question
The worst possible calling range the BB can have would be 57% of all hands. Even then, EV fold = 27.4%, EV push = 28.6%, so EV diff = + 1.1%
Push. (I'm practicing with my new SNGEGT download). |

Re: Bubble question
99 seems to be an easy push there.

Re: Bubble question
I'm glad I pushed when/if the short stack doubles up once or twice and I have those extra 750 chips on my stack.

Re: Bubble question
button has less than 2 BB, BB should be calling super tight here, enough to warrant shoving ATC from SB.

Re: Bubble question
Push, all day long....
So if you shove, does BB fold QQ here? If not what does he fold? |

Re: Bubble question
I would probably call with the top 5% of hands [AA,JJ], [AK,AJ], [KQ] in the BB. I don't think you should start folding great hands here because someone else is about to bust.
